There is no age limit for flights in the Dragon Rapide,. Minimum age for Trial Lessons in a Cessna is 14, although there is some flexibility on this so give us a call if in doubt.
To fly in a Spitfire, participants must be over 18. For all other activities the minimum age is 16 years.
There are no height restrictions for flights in the Dragon Rapide, but there is a max. height restriction of 6’ 4” for the Tiger Moth and 6’6″ for the Spitfire.
Yes. Max weight for the Dragon Rapide and for the Tiger Moth is 115kg/18 stone. Max weight for flights in a Spitfire is 105 kg/16.5 stone. Max weight for the Supercub and Cessna 152 is 101kg/16 stone.
Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes (no sandals). You will be provided with a leather flying jacket and headset on the day for the Tiger Moth, and if it’s a cold day you may want to bring some warm gloves
Flights in the Tiger Moth are not aerobatic. However depending on the weather, and the individual pilot on the day, aerobatic manoeuvres may be possible in the Harvard, and the Spitfire may be able to perform its signature Victory Roll.
It does not fly over any specific area. The instructor chooses a suitable area over which to carry out the flying lesson, usually away from towns and villages.
If the weather is not suitable for flying on the day you have booked, you can rebook for an alternative date to suit you. The new flight date must be within 12 months of the cancelled flight.
However please note that we cannot compensate for any hotel bookings or travel expenses incurred.
Your flight insurance is already included in the price of your voucher.
Your voucher will be valid for 12 months from the date of purchase- however please note that our flying season is from March to October inclusive (with the exception of Harvard flights and Trial Flying lessons in the Cessna which have some limited availability during the winter). The expiry date shown is the date before which your flight must take place.
You can extend your voucher for an extra twelve months for payment of an additional fee (currently £25)
Yes. All vouchers are transferable.
Yes, you can exchange it for a different type of flight, but you will need to pay any difference in cost.
No, unfortunately vouchers are sold on a non-refundable basis, unless it is returned within 14 days of purchase. If your flight date is cancelled due to bad weather we will rebook your flight but cannot issue a refund.
At least 7 days notice is required if you wish to cancel or change a booking, otherwise the booking is forfeited and no recompense is payable.
Alternatively, you can rebook for a new date on payment of a rebooking fee which is 50 % of the current value of the flying experience.
The voucher holder has free entry to the museum and you can bring as many people as you want with you. However they will need to come into the Museum at the same time as you to watch you fly but will benefit from a 50% discount on the entry fee. If you have any guests arriving after you, please ask us for an entry code which will allow them the 50% discount. All customers taking a Flight in a Spitfire with us are able to bring one guest free of charge, with the others paying half price.
Yes we usually give a 10% discount to groups of 8 or more
The Imperial War Museum at Duxford is 8 miles south of Cambridge, just off Junction 10 of the M11.
Yes there is good access for the disabled and wheelchairs are available at the Main Entrance. We are also able to offer flights in the Rapide to disabled passengers, depending on the extent of the disability.
In the Summer (March to October) 10.00 am to 6.00 pm In the Winter (all other times) 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. There is a “Fast-Track” entry point for all Classic Wings customers.
Yes, there is a restaurant and a cafe
As well as being an airfield, Duxford houses a huge collection of historical aircraft, together with an impressive land warfare exhibition. The collection covers 85 acres and includes such gems as Concorde, the Lancaster, the Blackbird, the Spitfire, the B17 and hundreds more. A visit to Duxford is a day out in itself so leave plenty of time to look around. See their website on www.iwm.org.uk for more information.
Yes you can! We offer flights in a Spitfire, or alternatively you can fly in our Dragon Rapide with the Spitfire flying in formation alongside you.
